… Denies anti-Tinubu remarks

 

 

 

An All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for Ifedore/Idanre Federal Constituency in Ondo State, Rasaq Obe, has disclosed his intention to pursue legal action against what he described as the manipulated outcome of the party’s recent primaries..

 

while dismissing reports that he questioned President Bola Tinubu’s electoral prospects in the state ahead of the 2027 election, Obe alleged that the primary election results were tampered with to deprive him of what he described as a freely given mandate.

 

The aspirant stated this in Akure, the state capital, during a solidarity visit from party leaders and members from his constituency, who had gathered to demonstrate their continued support for his political ambition.

 

Obe expressed surprise at the turnout of supporters who reaffirmed their confidence in his political journey to become a member of the House of Representatives.

 

He explained that his comments during a national television interview as regards the 2027 polls were intended to advocate for unity within both the state and the party.

 

“What I said was that we should address issues in the state to ensure that we have a common front. There is no one who is progressive who will not look past any consideration and support the President to have a second term. I am fully supporting him.

 

“The people causing division, undermining the governor, and creating division across the state are the ones working against the president, definitely not people like us,” Obe stated.

 

While urging his supporters to remain loyal to the APC and support the party’s candidates at all levels in the 2027 elections, he said “we are supporting the President and we are supporting the party. For the Senate, for the reps, and for all the offices, we are APC, and we do not undermine our party.

 

“Nigeria is a republic. It is not a communist state. When something is not right, you are asked to approach a court within 14 days of discovering that error,” he said.

 

According to him, several political figures, including Tinubu, had at various times secured electoral victories through the courts.

 

Obe, who also pledged his loyalty to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the leader of the APC in Ondo State, said attempts to undermine the governor would not promote the interest of the party or the state.

 

“There is no contest about the leader of the party in our state. Whoever is trying to undermine the governor is wasting his precious time.

 

“We will not allow our state to drift into chaos or violence. We must work together and achieve our goal of making our party victorious in 2027, in Ondo State and across the country,” he said.
