The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ondo State chapter, has dismissed fears within the party that the outcome of the April 20, 2024 primaries in the state will lead to an internal crisis, going by the array of aspirants seeking to fly the party’s flag in the forthcoming governorship election.

The state’s Chairman of the party, Ade Adetimehin, who gave the assurance, yesterday, said that the party would always be formidable in the state. He, therefore, assured President Bola Tinubu that he would be proud of whoever emerged as the party’s standard-bearer.

According to the state chairman of the party, who met with the aspirants at the APC’s secretariat in Akure, the state capital, the party cannot afford to run ahead of the primaries.

He appealed to the aspirants to be mindful of their utterances to avoid the heat of the polity. Adetimehin added that the party secretariat had asked “the local council chairmen to forward the venues of the election, which had been sent to the National Working Committee accordingly,” in fulfilment of the party’s constitution.

He, however, said: “The greatest challenge before us is the need to keep a united front for the party before and after the forthcoming primary election.”

Also, the party has urged the aspirants to avoid utterances that could heat up the polity. The state’s Publicity Secretary of the party, Alex Kalejaye, who gave the warningin his Easter message to members, yesterday, in Akure, said that the party’s focus remained to support the conducive atmosphere for the emergence of a popular candidate.

According to Kalejaye, the party is waxing stronger, intimidating to other political parties and is the most organised and viable party in the state.
He commended the loyalty and commitment of its leaders and members thus far, assuring the party’s teeming members of better days ahead.
Kalejaye, who gave the assurance that Nigeria’s economy would get better soon, said: “We rejoice with our members, and indeed, all Christians, over the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which symbolises victory. It is the essence of the Easter celebration.

“It is our wish that the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ will activate a deeper sense of patriotism, unity within our fold, and uncommon love for the state in the interest of all.”
