The candidate of Allied People’s Movement (APM) for Osun Central Senatorial District, Ibraheem Adekunle, on Thursday, in Osogbo said no scheming by the opposition can stop his electoral victory during January 16, 2027 National Assembly poll.
He contended that he possesses the necessary clout and political wherewithal to win the poll, pointing out that APM was committed to provide qualitative representation capable of improving lives of his constituents.
Adekunle, who made this disclosure during the unveiling of his candidacy by the leadership of the party, stated: “Elections are no longer about political parties but about the support of the people and the structure put in place by the candidate.
“Definitely, I am going to win the Osun Central Senatorial seat. I am not bothered about any opposition. I have what it takes to win, and I am very confident of victory. What I am bothered about is how to bring the dividends of democracy to my people.
“My message to the people of Osun is that they should vote for vibrant people to represent them both at the federal and state levels under the platform of the APM.
“This party is for the youth, and our youths should take advantage of this opportunity to vote for someone who will be on ground at all times to listen to them and work to better their lives, “Adekunle posited.
Speaking during the event, Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, who is also the presidential candidate of the APM, tasked the people of Osun to join the movement aimed at resetting governance and democracy in Nigeria.
Represented by one of the chieftains of APM, Babatunde Tijani, Makinde recalled that his feat of contesting and winning the governorship seat in Oyo during 2019 poll is achievable by Adekunle.
According to him, “I want to implore the people of Osun Central Senatorial District not to entertain any fear in 2027 as our candidate, Ibraheem Adekunle will win the seat in the National Assembly.
“I want to specifically appeal to the youth not to panic because you’re concerned in this movement of effecting the necessary changes in our nation’s leadership structure. We should be ready to fight for our future now. None of you is financially induced to be here.
“By now, we have to be conscious that it is high time we carried our burden from the heaviest part by using our Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to vote APM. Our mothers spend much money to invest in our education without jobs. We must all install good governance that can take care of all these challenges, “Makinde averred.
