The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has predicted defeat for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, saying the outcome of the Osun State governorship election was a clear indication of growing discontent with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party, in a statement issued yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Abubakar, said the Osun election demonstrated that “every political establishment seems unbeatable until the people decide otherwise.”

APM alleged that the outcome of the poll represented a triumph of the people over the APC and a foretaste of what awaits Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

According to the party, the reaction of voters to APC leaders during the Osun campaign showed that Nigerians were increasingly dissatisfied with the Federal Government and yearning for a change in leadership.

“The booing of President Tinubu’s political henchmen, including APC state governors, as they fled from Osun State shows that Nigerians are done with the APC and cannot wait to vote out President Tinubu in 2027,” the statement said.

The APM further claimed that the APC would struggle to command genuine support during the 2027 campaigns, alleging that Nigerians would not reward the administration with another term in office.

It also pointed to what it described as instances of APC members chanting the APM slogan at political gatherings, saying the development should serve as a warning to the President and the ruling party.

The opposition party said Nigerians were increasingly yearning for what it described as “honest, transparent, humane and people-oriented leadership,” which it claimed was embodied in its presidential candidate, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

The party described Makinde as a candidate with a proven record of performance, competence and a practical blueprint for addressing the country’s challenges.

It said Makinde’s achievements as governor had demonstrated his capacity to provide effective leadership, claiming that his administration had transformed Oyo State into one of the thriving economies in Nigeria and the sub-region.

The APM contrasted Makinde’s record with the Tinubu administration, which it accused of worsening economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, inflation and infrastructural decay.

It said: “Nigerians can no longer continue to stomach the arrogance in failure, totalitarian proclivities, worsening insecurity and economic hardship that the Tinubu administration now represents.”

The party urged the APC to “read the handwriting on the wall” and abandon any plan to manipulate the 2027 presidential election.

It warned that any attempt to subvert what it described as the will of the electorate would be resisted by Nigerians through the APM.

The APM congratulated Nigerians on what it called the triumph of the people’s will in the Osun governorship election, saying the party would lead efforts to “redeem our nation from the stranglehold of the APC” ahead of the 2027 elections.
