Osun 2026: APC lambasts Adeleke’s non condemnation of attack on Oke

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke

Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Friday chided Governor Ademola Adeleke for failing to condemn alleged attempt to assassinate the Director-General of the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Honourable Wole Oke.

Recall that the Osun State Police Command, had on Thursday, in Osogbo paraded three suspects, namely: Olamilekan Oriyomi (24yrs), Ayotunde Ikupolati (44yrs) and Femi Fakinleye, 31, who were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly attempting to kill Oke after visiting the palace of the Ajalaye of Ipetu-jesa, Oba Agunbiade Oke, in Oriade Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Abiodun Ojelabi, who paraded trio on behalf of Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, disclosed that Oriyomi, who led the gang allegedly aimed to kill Oke, the current lawmaker representing Obokun/Oriade at the House of Representatives, with a Beretta pistol while emerging from a Town hall after paying homage to the monarch.

However, APC in a statement by its director of media and information, Kola Olabisi, while lauding the Police over the arrest, decried Adeleke for not condemning the dastardly act four days after the incident.

According to the statement, “we are however, worried that the bungled assassination attempt on our D-G is yet to be condemned by the supposed chief security officer of the state and the loquacious state chairman of the deregistered Accord Party four clear days after their knowledge of the crime which speaks volume about the incident.”

The party also commended the pro-active approach of the Police Command in sanitising the nooks and crannies of the state of the men who are fugitive to justice, especially barely one and a half months away to the governorship election in the state.

It reads, “Had it been the suspected assassins succeeded, the state would have been thrown into another mourning session which the lying merchants in the state would have loaded its causes on our party without waiting for the police investigation.

“We have absolute confidence in the police that they would do a thorough investigation on the assassination attempt on our Director-General with a view to exposing, arresting and prosecuting all those who may be directly or remotely connected with the crime

“While we are giving kudos to the police over the development, we are further enjoining them to intensify their efforts to completely rid the state of political hoodlums and go after the influential figures mentioned by the arrested suspected assassins who have been confessing like canary birds in the police detention, “the statement concluded.
