Oyo APC names Abas as acting chairman
Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), yesterday, announced Moshood Olayide Abas as its acting chairman, following the demise of its immediate past Chairman, Isaac Omodewu, who passed on recently.
Abas, until his nomination, was the deputy state chairman of Oyo APC as he and the late Omodewu, alongside other members of the State Executive Committee (SEC) of the APC, got elected during the last state congress of the party held at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, in October 2021.
The Oyo APC, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, said that the nomination of Abas came after his ratification by all the SEC members during an emergency meeting that took place, yesterday, at the Oke-Ado State Secretariat of the party.
The statement reads in part: “Following the transition of our former state Chairman, Isaac Omodewu, the constitution of our great party has placed on us an onus to fill the vacuum by elevating the deputy state chairman to the post of acting chairman and this is exactly what the party did at its emergency meeting on Monday. The new acting chairman belongs to the category of the leaders of the progressives with a sound track record of service as a professional and a politician.”
