Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is effectively ‘dead’ in Nigerian politics.

During the inauguration of a renovated NNPP office in Katsina State on Saturday, Kwankwaso asserted that his departure from the PDP was a clear sign of the party’s decline. “I wish to remind you that PDP is dead because we left the party. Since they have gone out of the line, we decided to check out,” Kwankwaso stated.

Looking ahead, Kwankwaso expressed confidence in his party’s prospects for the 2027 presidential election. He stressed that the NNPP is poised to not only win the presidency but also gain control over multiple states.

In addition, Kwankwaso advised Nigerians to be wary of politicians offering gifts or money during the upcoming elections, implying that such tactics are designed to deceive voters.

Katsina NNPP Chairman Armaya’u Abdulkadir also spoke at the event, highlighting the party’s efforts to educate the electorate about its new logo. Abdulkadir explained that the new logo represents the party’s commitment to education for all, reflecting the primary focus of the Kwankwasiyya movement.

“There is a need for the party to embark on grassroots sensitization to inform members about the importance of the new logo,” Abdulkadir added.
