Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Governor Simon Lalong to direct the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) to conduct local government elections without further delay.

State chairman, PDP, Hon. Damishi Sango, stated this, yesterday, while briefing journalists at the PDP secretariat in Jos.

Sango cited the 2015 general elections, which were successfully conducted in the North East region at the height of the Boko Haram insurgency where adequate arrangements were made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in conjunction with security agencies for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to exercise their franchise without let or hindrance.

He therefore said the state governor has no excuse not to conduct local government elections.

Noting that since the coming on board of the administration, there has not been any local government election, Sango said his party gathered that when governor decides to finally hold the election there are plans to leave out some local governments considered strongholds of the PDP.
