Peter Obi’s ally Valentine Ozigbo dumps Labour Party for APC

A chieftain of Labour Party, Valentine Ozigbo, has dumped the party to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ozigbo, an ally of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, was the party’s candidate in the 2021 Anambra governorship election.
Ozigbo took this action on Thursday when APC members from Amesi Ward in the Aguata Local Government Area paid him a visit, his campaign team said in a statement on Thursday.
“The Valentine Ozigbo Campaign Organisation wishes to officially announce that Valentine Ozigbo, a distinguished business leader, philanthropist, and visionary politician, has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), Africa’s biggest political party,” Ozigbo’s campaign said.
“This historic decision was formalised today, Thursday, February 20, 2025, when Mr Ozigbo completed his registration as a member of the APC at his ward in Amesi, Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State.
“He was warmly received by party executives and stakeholders at the ward and local government levels.”
According to the organisation, Ozigbo articulated his ambitious plan for a better and more promising Anambra State in his meetings with APC party leaders, noting his steadfast dedication to transformational leadership, economic growth, and people-centered governance.
The group also noted that Ozigbo’s decision to join the APC is driven by his deep-rooted belief in progressive governance, his desire to work alongside forward-thinking leaders, and his determination to champion policies that will uplift the people of Anambra and Nigeria at large.
The Amesi Ward Chairman of the APC, Chidi Johnpaul Muokwe, welcomed Ozigbo to the party, saying he represents “the light in the darkness” that Anambra earnestly needs.
Chief Godson C. Anyadike, a senior party official in Aguata LGA, also expressed his excitement, stating, “In the history of APC in Aguata, no new member has ever come with this type of grace and excitement.”
Ozigbo joined politics in 2020 after previously holding the positions of President and Group CEO at Transcorp Plc. He finished second behind Governor Chukwuma Soludo, in the 2021 Anambra gubernatorial election.
