
Plateau State House of Assembly member, Mr. Mark Sunday (APC/Jos North West), has called for the creation of more satellite and specialised markets to enable microeconomic activities to thrive.
Sunday made the call in a notice of motion during the assembly plenary on Tuesday in Jos.
The lawmaker told his colleagues that the provision of satellite and specialized markets would open new frontiers of opportunities for entrepreneurs and business owners to operate better and contribute more to the state’s economy.

Sunday called on the assembly to draw the attention of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to conduct a feasibility study on the possibility of establishing satellite and specialized markets across the state.
The lawmaker further called for the prioritization of Jos North, Jos South, and Bassa Local Government Areas in this initiative, considering their population density and business advantages.
He also called on the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Town Planning to identify for possible allocation suitable plots of land/spaces for these markets.

Sunday, said the executive, should seek partnerships with private investors to ensure the speedy takeoff of the project.
He further said measures that should be taken to ensure the affordability and accessibility of these markets, particularly for small-scale business owners.
