Rhodes-Vivour, who spoke during his campaign flag-off at Ijegun in the Alimosho Council of the state, promised to run a government of transparency and accountability if elected into office.
While addressing party members, Rhodes-Vivour lamented the deplorable state of the road in the axis, assuring the people that he was ready to tackle the infrastructure deficit in the state.
He added that the reason his campaign was flagged off in Alimosho was that it is one of the most populated councils in the state, and records the highest turnout of voters.
Rhodes-Vivour noted that despite the axis’ political participation, it was shameful there is no development that the people can boast of, saying the current administration has done nothing to salvage the situation since their emergence in office.
He said: “We are here to highlight the needs of the people. Lagos is more than Ikeja or Lekki. This is Lagos and there is a need to make these people feel the presence of the government. This is why they must elect a governor that will sympathise with them in 2023. See the deplorable state of the road that the people are battling with, this is unacceptable. This is the time for people to be aware that they can have basic amenities if they vote for the right person.
“We are not campaigning, this is a movement and we are doing things to empower that movement to make people have a sense of belonging that this is their project. It’s not just for the politicians.”
“We are leaving politics to the politicians alone. We are bringing everybody so that they can get involved. Our government is going to be a transparent and accountable one.”
“It is going to be one that the social contract between government and the people is sacrosanct because Lagos State keeps taking pride in the amount they generate. If you are generating money from people, there must be a social contract.
“We must be accountable; we must be able to give line-by-line items of how we spend the budget. We should take time in delivering projects at the best possible cost, at the fastest possible time with the best possible materials.”
