The Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate and the lawmaker, representing Osun West Senatorial District, Senator Lere Oyewumi over the weekend vowed to ensure more infrastructural growth of his constituency in order to fast track socioeconomic growth of all communities in the zone.

Oyewumi, who gave the assurance while flagging off the construction of 0.5kilometer Akinola-Agbaraale road project in Iwo, Osun State, said he was committed to equitable infrastructural facelift of Osun West and human capacity development of the constituents regardless of political, ethnic and religious inclinations.

He explained that the road project was selected by him and the leadership of the Accord Party in Iwo local government considering its strategic importance t socio-economic activities of the residents and agrarian population.

Oyewumi, who is also the Director-General (DG) of The Imole Campaign Organisation (TICC), which handled the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke, however, assured that Akinola-Agbaraale road project will be delivered before December.

He stated, “This project is part of the promise I made to you during my campaign before my election into the Senate. When I decided to construct a road in Iwo, I asked our leaders in Iwoland to suggest which road we should do, and they chose this one.

“When I became a Senator, I told my people that any road we will construct must be strategic and must not be a road that has been previously done. I was told this Akinola road is over 100 years old and it has never been done before.

“I want you to cooperate with the contractor, Royal Husbands Engineering Ltd. They are competent, and I believe in their ability to deliver a good job. I also want you to monitor the work and call their attention to anything that is not done well.

“By God’s grace, this road will be commissioned before December. The contractor promised to deliver in three months, but I gave him an additional one month to ensure it is done very well,” Oyewumi said.

While appreciating the residents for supporting Adeleke’s reelection, the lawmaker tasked them to continue supporting all Accord candidates in the 2027 general elections

Earlier in his remark, the chairman of Accord in Iwo local government area, Halidu Adeoye, recalled some of the projects executed by Oyewumi in the local government.

Adeoye recalled that Akinola-Agbaraale road project was preceded by the constructions of two inner roads executed by Oyewumi in Iwo, noting that the lawmaker had earlier constructed constructed Oriolowo/Agbele and Fojugbagi/Adediti roads in the community.

He, therefore appealed to residents to support Oyewumi second term ambition, stressing that doing so will enable continuation of projects that will positively impact on the lives of the people.
