Top contender for the office of the President of the Nigerian Senate, Danjuma Goje, has withdrawn from the race and endorsed his colleague and Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan for the position.

The election for the position holds on June 11.

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai disclosed this to newsmen at the Presidential Villa on Thursday after he, the lawmakers and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang met h President Muhammadu Buhari.

Senator Lawan is the preferred candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the position of Senate President.
