Stakeholders task Ikpeazu on protecting south east and marginalisation

Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu was last Friday tasked to liaise with other southeast state governors to ensure the protection of South Easterners’ interests at the federal level, including addressing the zone’s marginalisation in Nigeria.

Releases N100m For Abians’ Participation In CBN Programme
Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu was last Friday tasked to liaise with other southeast state governors to ensure the protection of South Easterners’ interests at the federal level, including addressing the zone’s marginalisation in Nigeria. 

The stakeholders, comprising elected state and national political office holders and PDD lawmakers, party officials and elders, among others, spoke to journalists after their meeting at Government house in Umuahia. They also urged the governor to hit the ground running in developing the state, now that the Supreme Court has finally affirmed his election. 

Speaking in turns through Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, state PDP Chairman, Chief Johnson Onuigbo and ex-Minister of State for Defence, Rtd. Colonel Austin Akobundo, the stakeholders, who also passed a vote of confidence on the governor, stressed the need for reuniting the state party by addressing any misunderstanding existing in any part of the state, especially in Ohafia LGA, where misunderstanding recently arose between the chairman and the councillors. 

The governor, who expressed appreciation for their support and encouragement said he was overwhelmed by their love and solidarity.He disclosed that to enable Abians participate in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) sponsored programme for southeast states, which Abia State is hosting, his government made available the sum of N100m.
