President Bola Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, held a closed-door meeting with Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Akpabio arrived at the Villa at 6:12 pm to join the president who was said to be in a meeting with Mohammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation.

Barely an hour later, Gboyega Oyetola, minister of marine and blue economy, arrived at the villa, with Alhassan Doguwa, member representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada constituency of Kano in the house of representatives.

Dele Alake, minister of solid minerals development, was also seen at the villa within the hour.

Though it is unclear why the officials were at the villa, Oyetola’s visit comes just days after Ademola Adeleke, his successor, was re-elected as Osun state governor in a tightly contested election.

The meetings also come a day before the start of official political campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earmarked August 19 as the start of campaigns.

All the engagements were held behind closed-door.

The agenda of the meetings with the President was not immediately known as the visitors did not speak with journalists.

There is also federal executive council meeting scheduled for Wednesday.
