Tinubu must be ready to commit class suicide to transform Nigeria, says Okechukwu
Founding member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Osita Okechukwu, has called on President Bola Tinubu to muster the political will by adopting Amilcar Cabral’s ageless maxim of committing class suicide to transform the country towards sustainable growth and development.
Reacting to President Tinubu’s Independence Day address to the nation, he said: “My take with due respect to our leaders is that our previous and current leadership had good intentions, but lacked the political will to commit class suicide.
“For without class suicide, how can leadership utilise our abundant human and material resources to lift millions out of poverty and effectively ignite Nigeria’s greatness?”
The Enugu-born politician argued that the President not only identified with the plight of Nigerians but marshalled solutions. Justifying his position, he said: “He offered youths, a major plank made of our 60 per cent demographic records, an olive branch. It’s now incumbent on our youths to properly articulate their standpoint in their collective interest.”
On how to resolve the economic hardship, he called for patience leveraging on the truism that Nigerians are good followers, thus being optimistic that there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
