Tribunal Sacks Plateau Speaker
The Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Jos, the Plateau State capital, has sacked the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr. Moses Sule.
Sule contested on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Mikang State Constituency and was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
But the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election, Daniel Nanlong, approached the tribunal seeking to be declared the winner of the election on the grounds that Sule was not qualified to contest the election and that he did not comply with the electoral laws.
Delivering judgment yesterday, Justice Mohammed Bello Tukur upheld Nalong’s argument and ordered INEC to retrieve the Certificate of Return from Sule and give it to Nanlong as the duly and validly elected candidate.
