Voter registration: APC denies alleged plan to rig Osun election

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that it is plotting to rig the forthcoming governorship election in the state through the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

The ADC had accused the ruling party of mobilising people from Lagos, Oyo, and Ondo States to register in Osun to vote in the August 2026 poll.

But reacting in a statement on Saturday, the Osun APC Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, described the claim as baseless and a ploy by the ADC to justify its “imminent defeat” in the election.

“The preposterous and cacophonous noise being made about voter registration by the ADC is nothing but attention-seeking to attract unmerited publicity,” Olabisi said.
“The allegations should be disregarded as they are mere fabrications skillfully concocted to create an issue which has refused to either sit or fly.”

He insisted that the APC does not need to rig to secure victory, boasting that the party remains the one to beat in Osun. According to him, the recent defection of members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties into the APC is proof of its growing strength and appeal.

Olabisi further advised the ADC to direct any concerns over the CVR process to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), instead of “engaging in rigmarole and gibberish without any profitability in sight.”
