Borno picks contractor for N4.3b flyover contract

Borno State Government has announced Messrs Eighteenth Engineering Company (EEC) as the contractor for N4.29 billion flyover project that will reduce congestion of traffic in Maiduguri metropolis.

Borno State Government has announced Messrs Eighteenth Engineering Company (EEC) as the contractor for N4.29 billion flyover project that will reduce congestion of traffic in Maiduguri metropolis.

Borno’s flyover project; is first in Northeast and to be completed in 18 months. Yerima Saleh, the Commissioner of Works and Transport; disclosed this at Musa Usman Secretariat complex, Maiduguri. He said the project, is sited at Customs Roundabout, east of metropolis, the Borno state capital. He said the state government has awarded the contract to EEC at total cost of N4.29 billion.

“There would be no additional costs to the completion of historic project; to ease traffic congestion in Gambouru, Gwange and Ruwan-Zafi communities,” he said.He urged the construction company to abide with the terms of contract, assuring that there will be no defaults in payments. He said the east and south axis of flyover; also lead to Bama and Dikwa roads, after completion by May 2021.

EEC’s Managing Director, Mr. Qin Weiguo said that the flyover would be completed to meet international standards and beautify the metropolis. “The completion of this project, could also bridge friendship between Borno state and EEC,” he said.
