Design Union plans green living in Canalily Place

The Lagos-based property development firm, Design Union Limited has begun a green development in the Lekki Epe Expressway corridor, close to the Meadow Hall School, adjacent to Lekki Phase 1.

Known as Canalily Place, the luxurious residential development, comprises 91 apartments, 34 units of studio apartments, 12 units of one-bedroom apartments, 25 units of two-bedroom apartments, 15 units of three-bedroom apartments, and five units of four-bedroom apartments.

The firm plans to harness the best of nature’s gifts and incorporate bioclimatic architecture that is environmentally friendly.

“Rather than relying on artificial cooling, the units are fitted with sizeable windows to take advantage of natural ventilation. A system is also put in place to hygienically recycle waste so as not to constitute a nuisance to the environment,” according to the Managing Director, Design Union Limited, Mr. Anthony Aihie.

He said: “Canalily is a thoughtful cluster of mid-rise blocks featuring moderately priced apartments, functional well laid out living spaces, very low maintenance and energy cost, a leisure walk to the beach and secure surroundings among other considerations.”

Appliances that will be installed in the apartments are Energy Star, which ensures that the residents incur low energy bills. The emphasis is on green living as significant parcels of land are reserved for exotic gardens and parks, children’s playgrounds.

The house types are modeled after the hotel setting. The entire ground floor is dedicated to the car park and security logistics while the apartments are on one-five floors. Each block has its own private circulation core area with a dedicated elevator and stairs that create a sense of exclusivity and privacy reminiscent of luxury apartments.

The apartments are conceived with ultramodern interior design, kitchens are fitted with a cooking range and extraction system. Durable flooring, doors, and fixtures are specified for longevity. The lighting fixtures are energy saving.

Estate services include a 24-hour security system and potable water all round the clock. There is a convenience store for residents to procure immediate needs, as well as crèche for day and after day school.

Residents have availed a laundromat with wash -a -man pickup and delivery service. The fitness buffs have a gym and mini-spa to hone their muscles.
