Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP)

The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, NITP, has elected Mr. Ezutah Lekwa Ezutah as the new national president at its 49th Conference and Annual General Meeting held in Abuja.

Also, for effective service delivery, the association’s registration council, TOPREC, has inaugurated the Practice Monitoring Committee (PMC) for Lagos State with a call on practitioners to maintain highest professional standard or risk sanctions.
 
The committee is to watch-over matters relating to the practice of the profession within its jurisdiction, identify good conducts as well as unethical acts of professionals with the goal of making recommendations for commendation or disciplinary action, receive and consider petition/complaints and investigate unethical practice.

It would also carry out other activities that will lead to the advancement of good practice of the profession.
 
Speaking at the ceremony, the President, Town Planners Registration Council (TOPREC), Prof. Layi Egunjobi explained that one of the core concerns of the council is to carry out their services in the most dignified way that will elevate not just the practitioners but also the profession.

Egunjobi, who was represented by Moses Ogunleye, said the council has observed that one of the ways to boost the image of the profession and give it a higher value is for town planners to conduct themselves in the most dignified way in the course of work whether in public or the private sector.

While inaugurating the committee, Prof. Egunjobi urged them to be diligent and strive to raise the bar of practice in the state.
   
The committee is to be chaired by Mr. Moses Ogunleye as the TOPREC state representative, other are representative of Association of Town Planning Consultants of Nigeria, Dele Akindele, State chapter Chairman of the Nigeria Institution of Town Planners, Bisi Adedire, two representatives of the Lagos State Government, Mr. Funmi Osifuye and Bisi Ojedokun as members.
