Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola and his counterparts in the ministry, Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Mohammed Bello; former Minister of State for Works and Housing, Mu’Azu Jaji Sambo and the Minister of Science and Technology, Adeleke Mamora will be special guests at the 16th Africa International Housing Show (AIHS) holding at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

A statement by the Coordinator of the event, Festus Adebayo, said the ministers are expected to join other invited foreign ministers to participate in discussions focused on housing development and prosperity in the African continent.

He added that the conference would bring together stakeholders in the housing sector, as well as home based and international speakers to dialogue on the housing challenges in the country and agree on solution to the raging housing gap.

According to Adebayo, the forum would draw over 15,000 attendees from over 15 different countries with “no less than 34 speakers drawn from different works of life to speak and discuss issues revolving around the theme of the even,” he said.

The four-day event with the theme, ‘Housing for all -The role of Government in Creating an Effective Enabling Environment’ will feature a dialogue session with political leaders and aspirants towards charting a new way to tackle the nation’s housing deficit.

Additionally, a climate change session with an emphasis on green housing, exhibitions, a proptech session, financing discussions, deal-room meetings and other activities will also be part of the event.

The vice president, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo, is expected to declare the event open, while Fashola will be the chief host.
