Lookman, Ronaldo, Messi, among nominees for 2024 Globe Soccer Awards
Nigerian forward, Ademola Lookman, has been nominated for the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
The organisers of the award announced the list of nominees in a post on their official X account on Thursday with Lookman also battling the duo of Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland.
Lookman has been lethal in front of goal since last season for Atalanta.
The 27-year-old netted 17 goals and registered 10 assists for the Bergamo outfit last season when he guided them to their first-ever European title with a hat-trick in the final of the UEFA Europa League against Bayer Leverkusen.
He won the player of the season at the club and was conferred alongside his teammates with the highest civilian honour in Bergamo, following the historic feat.
The former RB Leipzig winger was ranked 14th in the 2024 ahead of the likes of Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard.
He has been nominated by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) for the Men’s 2024 Award.
Lookman is also a top contender to succeed Victor Osimhen as the African Player Of The Year, after he played a key role in Nigeria reaching the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), contributing three goals and an assist in seven matches.
This season, the Nigerian international has continued his prolific form, netting eight goals and providing five assists in 14 appearances for Atalanta.
