‘Young professionals lack access to affordable housing scheme’

A Real estate firm, Rentmates has expressed concerns over the lack of access to affordable housing schemes by many young professionals in urban centres.

According to the agency, many young professionals spend more than 30 per cent of their income on rent, leaving little room for savings, investment, or other essential expenses.

The firm, therefore, restated its commitment to providing innovative rent financing and affordable housing solutions that empower young professionals to mitigate the challenge. “Rentmates is a new generation real estate agency focused on providing affordabke housing solutions with flexible financing option.”

The Co-founder of Rentmates, Ruth Olorunfemi, who expressed this concern while speaking with journalists in Lagos, said that finding affordable housing in Lagos can be a daunting task for young professionals due to the rapidly growing population who face limited housing options.

She revealed that its rent financing solutions have reduced the financial burden of rent, allowing young professionals to allocate more resources to other essential expenses, savings, and investments.

Olorunfemi said over the past four years, the agency has developed innovative rent financing solutions that make it easier for individuals to secure housing that meets their needs and curated a portfolio of quality and affordable housing options, ranging from apartments to shared accommodations.

“The agency offers flexible rent financing options that allow young professionals to spread the cost of rent over time, reducing the financial burden and making housing more accessible.

Olorunfemi noted that the platform provides personalised support to clients, helping them navigate the housing market, find suitable options, and access financing solutions that meet their needs.

“By making housing more accessible and affordable, Rentmates has contributed to the economic growth and development of Lagos, enabling young professionals to focus on their careers, entrepreneurship, and personal development,” she added.
