It’s been said that Meta’s (Facebook’s) aims with WhatsApp’s payment system is to offer over a billion adults the tools needed to engage with global financial systems and that seems tremendously brilliant amongst the roll-out of WhatsApp’s payment pilot, however, could the failure to launch of Libra foreshadow the same reception of WhatsApp’s use of the Facebook owned Novi Wallet?

This seems unlikely, though it appears that there might be some trepidation amongst cryptocurrency lovers after Libra’s fall from grace when large companies retracted partnerships with Meta’s currency. 

Though it seems that WhatsApp (a subsidiary of Facebook) might have greater humanitarian aims at heart with their payment system and use of the Novi Wallet where monetary exchanges are swift and hassle free… potentially making steps toward closing gaps of tech-poverty. Though this is still yet to be seen. 

The future, however, for WhatsApp’s payment system seems more than bright!
