Filmmaker Femi Odugbemi has been appointed to the International Engagement Committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Filmmaker Femi Odugbemi has been appointed to the International Engagement Committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Described as a global role within the Oscar body, the committee is responsible for shaping the Academy’s international engagement strategy, particularly, focusing on membership, governance, and impact initiatives.

Odugbemi’s one-year appointment, which runs until June 30, 2025, will see him collaborate with professionals from around the world to promote global inclusivity and strengthen international connections within the film industry.

The committee will meet virtually three times over the next year, with sessions scheduled in October, February, and April to accommodate global time zones.

“I am honoured to join the Academy’s International Engagement Committee and excited to contribute to its efforts in promoting global representation and strengthening international connections within the film industry,” said Odugbemi, a voting member of the Academy whose appointment shows his rising influence in the global film industry.
