When it comes to African fashion, art, design and quality are the essentials. However, due to the atmospheric condition of Africa, comfortable fabrics such as cotton voile are usually what work.

This is because voile is a lightweight, breathable semi- sheer plain-woven fabric usually made from 100 per cent cotton or cotton blend. It has a higher thread count than most cotton fabrics, which results in a silky soft hand.

Based on this, Suntex AG, a Switzerland fabric brand that designs, produces and distributes embroideries, and prints, is leaving its footprints in the Nigerian and African fabric markets.

According to the Chief Executive Officer, Riem Ali Taha, the Nigerian textile industry is witnessing a reawakening and the focus is to complement the effort by creating designs that key into the diverse culture and lifestyle of the Nigerian people and the fashion industry.

“We are known for our high-quality Swiss Voile fabrics. We create fashionable Swiss textiles for the different traditions of Africa, specialising in cotton Voile, African Voile Embroideries, Prints, Jacquards, Brocade, Guinea Brocade, Atiku, Lamé as well as Turbans.”

Taha further noted that the brand has upgraded its embroidery factory in Switzerland to meet the needs of the growing market. “We also intend to establish embroidery mills in the country in the near future.”
