After four weeks of contest, 23-year-old Oluwatimilehin Fadimimu Fortune has emerged winner of My Voice, My Identity, an online vocal challenge by a leading pharmaceutical company, Shalina Healthcare.

The contest was for music enthusiasts to showcase their unique voices and win prizes for creating freestyle 30 to 60-second-video with the name of one of the firm products, Shaltoux Lozenges.

The competition, which was done through either online submission or by joining Shalina live on Instagram lasted for four weeks and the judges spent a week preparing for the presentation. At the end of the contest, eight persons emerged as finalists for the grand finale.

After a rigorous contest, Fortune beat other contestants to clinch the N500,000 price, while Aniete Akpabot and Otobong Bennet emerged the first and second runner up winning N300,000 and N200,000 respectfully.

A judge, Adams Adebola, professionally known as VJ Adams, said: “One of the things we looked out for was people who could pronounce the name of the brand correctly. Contestants must say what Shalina identifies with because they were representing a brand at the end of the day. We had hundreds of entries including from outside Nigeria and Africa so, we had a big task to pick the first eight and then the three top winners, where we eventually picked the winner.”

Reacting, Fortune said: “The judges spoke on what they looked out for, and I had all, but I can’t say I have it more than other contestants. I doubted myself when second and third place was announced, but it was a shocker getting the prize. This money will go into getting equipment to further my music career.”
