HE Summit 2024: A celebration of positive masculinity on international Men’s Day
The HE Summit 2024, held on November 23 to commemorate International Men’s Day, was a transformative celebration of positive masculinity. Organized by HEvolve, a nonprofit committed to promoting men’s mental health and emotional well-being, the event brought together thought leaders, advocates, and attendees to redefine societal norms and champion men’s authentic selves.
Celebrating Positive Male Role Models
This year’s theme, “Positive Male Role Models,” highlighted the importance of challenging harmful stereotypes, embracing emotional wellness, and fostering supportive communities for men. Ridwan Amoo, founder of HEvolve, set the tone with a heartfelt opening speech, sharing his personal journey of resilience and emphasizing the need for safe spaces where men can openly discuss their struggles.
Keynote speakers Patrick Smith and Ehita Adedokun delivered inspiring talks, addressing topics such as mentorship, self-care, and mental health advocacy. Engaging panel discussions delved into critical issues, including breaking stereotypes in media and building support systems for men’s mental health.
A Day of Inspiration and Action
In addition to discussions, the summit featured interactive workshops and a soul-stirring musical performance by Ayomitunde Oyeniran. HEvolve also unveiled impactful initiatives, such as the Boys 2 Men Program and Workplace Mental Health Program, offering tangible ways for individuals and organizations to make a difference.
Ridwan Amoo called for collective action to dismantle toxic masculinity and empower men to seek help without fear of stigma. “This is a celebration of vulnerability and strength, and a call to redefine what it means to be a man in today’s world,” he stated.
Moving the Conversation Forward
The HE Summit concluded with a powerful call to action, encouraging attendees to join HEvolve’s efforts and advocate for men’s mental health. The event served as a reminder that conversations around men’s well-being are not only necessary but long overdue.
As International Men’s Day inspires reflection and progress, HEvolve remains dedicated to fostering a future where men everywhere have the resources and support they need to thrive.
