It was indeed an evening of fun and excitement at the Bespoke Event Centre, Lagos, as prominent socialite, Funmi Babington-Ashaye, emerged winner of the Lagos Female Entrepreneur (LAFE) 2021 awards, besting eleven other women entrepreneurs, including Linda Ikeji, Tara Fela-Durotoye, Ola Orekunrin, Bilikiss Adebiyi, Kofo  Akinkugbe, Deola Sagoe,  and Adenike Ogunlesi and other nominees.

The LAFE award promotes and celebrate females who founded and have recorded successes in their business(es). Other dignitaries at the event included the renowned Pharmacist and Owner of Emzor Pharmaceutical, Mrs Stella Okoli, fashion Icon, Opral Benson and Erelu Abiola Dosunmu and other traditional leaders such as the Asoju Asa Ile Oodua, Onirisa, among others.

Speaking with the convener of the LAFE award, Ayobanna Ikeanumba, he said, “Women deserve so much more than what they are getting now. Looking at various global statistics, African women are the least appreciated.

“These Amazons have triumphed where some failed.  They have provided a large chunk of employment to all shades of people in Lagos State and across the country.”
He added that the selected women have “redefined entrepreneurship in Nigeria, in general and Lagos in particular and have become household names in their various businesses, and they have become a success story worthy of emulation.”
