The ancient city of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, was treated to a spectacular independence celebration on Saturday courtesy of Globacom’s flagship show, Glo Mega Music Nationwide Tour, which locked down the city down for several hours in an evening of world-class entertainment.

Guests at the Jogor Event Centre, Ibadan, which hosted the show, had an exhilarating experience as all the artistes on parade for the evening of fun put up spectacular performances from beginning to the end of the show.

The anchors of the show, Nollywood’s duo of Ebube Nwagbo and Mercy Johnson-Okojie, were not left out of the evening of fun and total entertainment. They resonated very well with the crowd and contributed to the fun all through, especially with the constant “Ibadan Kini Shoo” slang Mercy Johnson-Okojie used to wow the crowd.

DJ Tops also lightened up the atmosphere with good tracks, which kept the guests dancing. New kid on the block, Axterix, the R & B specialist, was the first act on the stage and the guests enjoyed his performance. He was followed by Afro-pop singer, Yemi Alade, who took control of the show immediately and rendered different tracks, including Charlie, Tangerine, No dome, Kom Kom, kissing, Ferrari and Taking, which the crowd sang heartily along with her.

Next was Runtown, the master of dance hall, who raised the tempo with different hit tracks like Mad Over You and Fijo Gbowo. However, the highlight of his performance was the rendition of popular Superwoman track, which the crowd enjoyed thoroughly.

Olamide, who got a standing ovation from the crowd took over from Runtown and he gave a superlative delivery. Perfectly dictating the pace, the Baddo king delivered different tracks, moving from First of All, Voice of the Streets, Stupid Love, Durosoke to Alowomajaye, Shakiti Bobo and other hit tracks in a carnival-like atmosphere.

Timaya, the Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa, entered the stage at the tail end of Olamide’s performance and did a collabo with him before settling down to dazzle the crowd with I concur, Overdose, Money no dey, Won fe pami and others before closing the show.

The show also witnessed the presence of celebrities including Nollywood’s Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Yoruba movie actor, Odunlade Adekola, and another Yoruba movie star, Bolaji Amusan, also known as Mr. Latin, who all added to the fun.

Anyigba, Kogi State, will host the next edition of Glo Mega Music Nationwide Tour on October 7.
