Institute of Information Management (IIM) has awarded contributors in the information space for their efforts in advancing the sector.This was at the IIM Global Convention Exhibition & 56th Induction / Investiture Ceremony and Awards & Dinner, in Lagos.
International President, IIM, Mr Ayodeji Oyedokun, said the event marked the grand finale for 2025 annual convention where individuals who have had tangible impact in the industry were recognized for committing time and resources to promote information management activities.
He emphasised the need for data security awareness, saying that individuals need to be knowledgeable about what is being expected of them while operating in the cyber space and make efforts towards mitigation if exposed. On data management, he emphasised that it is a must for the development of businesses and a nation.
“For us to make an headway as a nation, we need to ensure that we manage data and information effectively and protect them adequately. As organisations, we need to make sure that customers’ data are protected to retain our integrity. It would also help us make informed decisions, by getting business intelligence from data we collect from our customers and to them responsibly,” he said.
Among the honourees were Su Graham, Igwegbe Amala, Dr. Omolara Akanji, Princess Tiwalade Fapohunda, Celestine Achi, Rita Amuchienwa, and Pelisa Nkunjana.
These individuals were acknowledged for their unwavering dedication and commitment to the advancement of stewardship within the IIM community.In total, 40 individuals were recognised for their exemplary service and achievements across various categories.
Fellow, IIM, Dr Adeniyi Jaiyesimi, said asides from investing in necessary technology to enhance data protection, organisations should pay attention to having the right staff.
He reiterated the importance of institutionalising information management as an absence of it would result in lack of control in the sector.
