No doubt, this week’s ongoing Big Brother Naija season 4, with the theme Pepper Demtask, the’ Pepsi Know Da Lyrics Challenge’ was an interesting singing act in which housemates sang along to the beats of Nigerian music artiste they had earlier picked after Biggie announced the task  and the mouthwatering price attached to it.

For Mercy, Thelma and Frodd, the task isn’t just a Game, as they found opting out very painful. While Mercy was seen weeping upon her disqualification, Thelma was seen cowed on the bed lamenting hers.

Meanwhile, after what will be considered a long battle that spanned the entire day, Jackye’s hard work and lyrical prowess paid off, and eventually put on the map of winners.
The Prep, The Performance

In the garden, the housemates were seen rehearsing their chosen songs. Mike struggled to get the words correctly with his American-tongue. Going over and over the songs, he was not letting go of his resolve to show Biggie, fellow housemates and followers of the show what he’s got.

Not even food could make him waiver about this task, as he was seen singing the songs several times until Mercy and Diane came to his rescue regarding his pronunciation of ‘Olu omo’ the popular National Union of Road Transporter Workers (NURTW) leader in Oshodi, as he rehearse Teni’s  Case.

Even when Head of House Esther gathered all of the housemates in the lounge, Mike wouldn’t stop rehearsing the songs with the others looking at him in amazement. Esther announced that all lyrics with them should be placed into the Pepsi box provided in the Diary Room as instructed by Biggie. Perhaps, sensing that some housemates may play a fast one, she later collected the cards from them to put in the box on their behalf as the HoH.

After a few minutes of relaxation in the garden, the housemates were again gathered in the lounge by Biggie, for the contest to begin. As instrumentals to the five songs played in the background, each of housemate was called out to perform his or her part

Unfortunately for Mercy, Khafi and Sir Dee, Biggie wasn’t impressed with their performances. They were disqualified for singing when it wasn’t yet their turn. This didn’t go well with Mercy as she went into the room weeping. It took the interference of Tuoyo and Nelson who petted her before she finally calmed down. But no sooner had the two left when she started again. She wouldn’t leave the bed until her lovely Ike showed up. Other Housemates came to meet them at the dressing room where they all gave reassuring words.

After about 30 minutes break, the second phase of the challenge began. For not singing their own part of the songs properly, Tacha and Thelma were disqualified. While Tacha saw the disqualification as one of those things, Thelma was sad. In her words, “Which of the challenges have I ever won? But just when I thought I got this…”

This was followed by Frodd, Ike and Gedoni, after which Esther, Mike, Tuoyo and Omashola were also out of the race, thus prompting Jeff, Diane and Nelson to be first to get dropped from the final round leaving Seyi and Jackye to slug it out.

Ending in a tie, Seyi and Jackye had no choice but to continue till there was a last (wo)man standing. After what would be described as a keenly contested challenge Jackye was announced as the winner, as she has to her kitty a whopping sum of N1.5 million and a four-day all-expense paid VVIP trip to One Africa Music fest in Dubai.

Without mixing word, this week in Biggie’s Pepper Dem house has been one with mixed actions and reaction. From the fight for Ike’s love Ike’s love attention to the eventual eviction of Ella and KimOprah, stormy relationships, nomination for eviction for the third time and the week’s task, Pepsi  Challenge, housemates have kept entertaining followers of the reality show unstopped.

Meanwhile, one or two of Seyi, Mike, Frodd, Tuoyo and Tacha who are up for eviction maybe going home tomorrow night after live show. But from the look of things, Biggie may spring up surprise.
