Lagos hairdressers win big at annual hair styling contest

The Nigerian Association of Hairdressers, Barbers and Cosmetologists (NASHCO) recently held their annual hair styling contest in Lagos with the winners smiling home with prizes and bragging rights.

The Nigerian Association of Hairdressers, Barbers and Cosmetologists (NASHCO) recently held their annual hair styling contest in Lagos with the winners smiling home with prizes and bragging rights.

Comprising of eight teams with a model, stylist and an assistant per team who were allotted the same time to come up with creative yet trendy hairstyles using the newly introduced Lush crochet variants namely, Mandy Twist, Fiona Braids and Vegas Braids; each team represented different local government areas in Lagos and they meticulously slugged it out against one another to emerge as winners.

Stella Chinonso from Mushin Odi-Olowo LGA came first and won for her team a 3.8 KVA Generating Set whilst Mary Olawunmi and team from Iba LGA received a 32” Television Set for coming second and Naomi Hopewell and team also from Iba LGA alongside her team went back home with a standing fan for coming third, while the rest went home with consolation prizes.

According to Omotayo Azeez-Abiodun, Public Relations Manager, Tolaram Group who represented the hair brand and served as one of the judges said, “it is indeed another auspicious opportunity collaborating with NASHCO in organizing yet another edition of this contest and we are glad that we are able to formally introduce the new set of crochet variants to all the hair professionals present”. The premium hair extension brand, which introduced the new designs at the competition, reinstated her commitment to quality standards.

Contestants were all allotted forty-five minutes to create innovative hair designs with the new products and were judged based on creativity, tools handling, finishing and neatness, composure, seamlessness and innovative colour schemes.

Dignitaries present at the event included the founder of both the Elegant Twins School of Cosmetology and Clinic and NASHCO, Dr. Elizabeth Osinsanya (OON), (JP), National President NASHCO, Betty Ishoka as well as president, NASHCO, Lagos Chapter, Surat Abari- Ajibola amongst others.
