LITF hints on entertainment village at this year’s fair


The Chairman, Trade Promotion Board, Lagos, Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Engr. Leye Kupoluyi, has said the Lagos International Trade Fair (LITF) will promote entertainment among youths and others through its new component, ‘Entertainment Village’.

At a media briefing and the unveiling of the ‘Entertainment Village’ logo to herald the 37th LITF schedule to hold at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos from November 3 to 12, 2023 and celebration of LCCI 135th anniversary, Kupoluyi said the new component, will make the fair more inclusive, sustainable, relevant and interesting to all stakeholders.

This Entertainment Village, he said, is set to be a hub of excitement, cultural exchange, and relaxation. The initiative is aimed to provide a unique platform for visitors to experience the true essence of Lagos and Nigeria’s diverse cultural heritage.

His words: “At the Entertainment Village, you will find a wide array of attractions that cater to people of all ages and interests. It will be a place where you can enjoy world-class musical performances, immerse yourself in traditional dance and art exhibitions, and savor the flavors of our local cuisine at various food stalls. We are dedicated to showcasing the best of Nigerian and African culture alongside international influences.”

According to him, “the Entertainment Village will offer recreational activities for the entire family. Whether you’re a child or an adult, there will be something for everyone, from music, fashion runways, food, interactive games, and live performances, to movie screenings and live theater performances.

“Entertainment, culture, tourism, and leisure are essential aspects of any thriving community. They are the soul of our city, and they reflect the vibrant spirit of Lagos. Our Entertainment Village is a testament to our commitment to creating a holistic trade fair experience that encompasses not only commerce but also the rich cultural tapestry that defines us as a people,” he explained.

The LCCI chieftain stated that steps have been taken to ensure that the ‘Entertainment Village’ minimises its environmental impact through eco-friendly architecture, energy-efficient technologies, and sustainable waste management practices.

“Our commitment to a greener Lagos is reflected in every aspect of this venture. LITF has always been a symbol of commerce and economic progress. “It is a place where entrepreneurs, businesses, and investors come together to forge new partnerships, explore opportunities, and drive growth,” he said.

On her part, Chairperson creative and Entertainment group, LCCI, Dr. Ngozi Omambala, stated that the entertainment aspect is to make people relaxed, noting that youths will showcase themselves as upcoming artists are also expected to perform. She also added that the entertainment would attract tourism among youths.
