As part of the strategic approach to develop a culture of academic excellence, engage and welcome young talents, a Campus Career Expo was held at the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Edo State, to kick off the 2016 Campus Career Drive. The event, which took place at Professor Festus Iyayi Hall witnessed a large turnout of students from different faculties.

The students interacted with top management executives from Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), the sponsors of the programme, including learning about the company.

Speaking at the event, NBC, Public Affairs Manager, East & Central, Mr. Ekuma Eze, said: “The programme is designed to identify and prepare young talents in different institutions of higher learning across the country and to groom them to be business and industry leaders.”

The programme provides opportunity for undergraduates who are highfliers to start and grow world-class careers in a world class organisation. NBC is currently expanding the capacity of its production facilities to meet up with the demands of consumers and also injecting new talent and employees is an integral part of the plan.

Also speaking at the event, Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Osasere Orunwense, represented by the Deputy Registrar, Harris Osarenren, commended NBC for choosing UNIBEN for the career expo, and the students were privileged to benefit from the magnanimity of the company’s noteworthy gesture, describing NBC as a great place to work. He advised students to always be guided by the school’s motto: ‘Knowledge For Service.’ He added that the knowledge acquired in the University is to prepare and empower them for service to humanity.

NBC Country Manufacturing Director, Anthony Njenga, who was also present at the event, said, since incorporation of NBC 65 years ago, the company has continuously innovated and transformed its operations to a world-class business. He urged the young talents to be part of the actualization of NBC vision, hence the great opportunity the Career fair offers to join NBC, after fulfilling necessary academic requirements expected for their various degree programmes”.
