Pherowshuz returns with new mixtape, King David
Veteran rapper and producer, Pherowshuz, has released a new mixtape, a 13-tracker entitled King David, featuring nine artistes, including Morell, President Jaga JayDizzle, and Grandsun among others.
The mixtape, which was released on Thursday, April 2, comes after For The Culture, his collaborative album with Terry Tha Rapman. It serves as an appetizer to his full-length studio album that will drop in days ahead.
The latest offering, which include records like What is life, Cold world, Actor no dey die, Finally, Baby wasup, He won’t let you go, Home, Wellu Wellu, and Korrect (Arewa remix), among others, adds to the rapper’s list of solid discography, which showcases his writing ability and top-notch production skills.
Christened David Torkuma Joshua, the Benue state native, was born in Sokoto state and shortly after his birth, his family moved to Kaduna state where he spent the rest of his formative years (including schooling) and where his family still reside till date.
Phero’s love for music started at an early age, as he would dance and sing along to every type of genre he had access to. But it was when he was in secondary school that he and a couple of his friends, who he noticed had the same drive and interest in hip-hop, team up to give it a try to rap. They formed a group and from then the love and interest grew stronger and stronger.
After secondary he got signed to a label called KD World Records, which ended up being the first and one of the major music label power houses in the early years of the Nigerian music industry, where he was for eight years plus, and dropped two albums and a mixtape. He moved on to another label called Rapture Entertainment, where he was for a year but had a falling out with the labels management for lack of strategies and ideas.
After leaving Benue State University, he went on to team up with a fellow producer to start a production company called ILLTouch Productions. Following his dexterity as a rapper cum producer, Pherowshuz was nominated in the Best Rap Single category at the Headies 2010/2011 for the single Sample, which he eventual won.
While we anticipate the coming of his new album, the mixtape will definitely give fans clue of what to expect.
