To create a new tourism attractions for Nigeria and Africa, Lagos-based tourism development company HLTT Consult, also known as Travel Begins at Home (TBAH), has unveiled programmes and plans for the 2022 edition of the Naija Corn Festival billed to take place today, at the BoardWalk Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The festival is an opportunity to showcase Nigerian indigenous food, a staple in most African homes.
According to the organisers, the festival will spotlight tourism industry and boost the Agro sector by identifying a value chain for corn. The event would also avail participants to learn about business and investment opportunities around corn.

Speaking on the initiative, the Convener and Chief Host Olubunmi Akinyemi said: “We aim to promote Agri-tourism as a new form of Tourism which is grossly underdeveloped in this region. Thus the introduction of our flagship event named “Naija Corn Festival” which we intend to develop and deliver at a global standard to attract visitors from all over the world will be an exciting time for families and friends to unwind and relax while a series of events are taking place. Also, we want younger people to be involved in Agriculture, and support the SDG goals of eradicating poverty and food security. This is why Farmers, travel consultants, travel enthusiasts, artists, and food vendors are all welcome to be a part of the event.”

To further enrich the one-day event, organisers have put together a series of activities such as a film show, panel discussion and loads of corn meals for guests. Other activities include Free Eating Competition, Free Cooking Competition and a dancing competition with loads of freebies to be won. There would also be different kinds of games and board games sections.
