Tunji Bamishigbin also ‘A Man Of The Bar’ in Nollywood

It was the veteran broadcaster Patrick Doyle who drew our attention to the fact that we left out the veteran actor, writer, producer, and director Tunji Bamishigbin when we placed the spotlight last week on notable screen acting celebrities such as Kanayo Kanayo, Richard Mofe Damijo, Kenneth Okonkwo and Femi Adebayo who have been called to the Nigerian bar and so should be rightly called ‘Men of the Bar’ in Nollywood.

Although best known as a director and producer, ‘Uncle Tunji’ as younger colleagues call him studied performing arts and then law and was called to the Nigerian Bar. In fact, he has put in nearly three decades at the bar and still practices as a solicitor and he is engaged in the property business and consulting.

A producer and director of vast credit, Tunji started from the theatre, then moved to television and then movie production. The producer and director of critically acclaimed productions such as the two-part movie Most Wanted, and Eeku-ida had a brief stint as a banker but returned to the movie industry because it was what he loved to do. He has not looked back since then and he has effectively combined legal practice with television and movie production.
