Popular highlife duo, Umu Obiligbo has returned to the fore with a thanksgiving bop dubbed, Anwuli.

The popular Igbo highlife brothers Ebuka Akunwafor Jnr and Obiligbo Ifeanyi told Weekend Beats that they made the record to thank God for the year.

“The new single Anwuli is a song of appreciation to God on how he has been keeping us safe in all our endeavors and journey despite the situation of the world right now and it’s also a joyful and thanksgiving song to wrap up the year. It was produced by Pc lapez, mixed and mastered by Jay stunt.”

Sharing their notable achievements in 2022, Okpuozor said “Well we had quite a very good year musically, lots of shows and recognition, also the year ended with very good streaming numbers raking into millions. Also, We have a U.S. tour next year which we will be releasing tour dates soon.”

The duo also shared their thoughts on the popularity of the highlife music scene, saying there is hope for the genre: “We have observed that artists now believe more in Pr/influencers/bloggers to market their songs, and we also noticed that some of the numbers from some artistes are fake streams via streaming farms but our own brand is different, we have real fans that believe in our sound so we don’t need to fake numbers cos we have a solid fan base behind us”.
