After exciting listeners with Idan Buruku, a fiery freestyle that rolls back the years, multi-award-winning rapper, Olamide Adedeji well known as Olamide Badoo has told fans they have more to look forward to this year.

In a post on his X account, the Grammy-nominee revealed that he intends to release the second installment of his Extended Play (EP) Ikiga. He disclosed this while responding to a fan who complained that Idan Buruku was too short. “You’d have to wait for Ikigai vol. 2 almost here,” Olamide wrote.

Idan Buruku, produced by Eskeez, is a masterclass in rap braggadocio. The freestyle serves as a reminder of Olamide’s consistency and relevance in the Nigerian music scene. With lines that exude confidence and charisma, he paints a vivid picture of his dominance, likening himself to the “lyrical Kim Jong Un.”

Known for his expertise in blending streetwise grit with mainstream appeal, Olamide flexes his lyrical muscles in this latest offering, proving why he’s one of the best Nigerian rappers of all time.

His first installment of Ikigai, the Japanese word that translates to “a reason to live”, enjoyed massive success. The project had songs like Metaverse, Habibi, and Uptown Disco featuring Asake and Fireboy. The EP is Olamide’s 10th solo project, which captures his constant evolution and ability to stay in tune with the pulse of the culture.

Aside from releasing Ikigai in 2024, Olamide also made several guest appearances including on songs with Shallipopi, Zlatan, Khaid, Alpha P, Gimba, and more recently with the Antiworld Gangsters.

In over a decade in the music industry, the Shakiti Bobo, Science Student and other raves hitmaker has remained at the summit, where he has consolidated his place as one of Nigeria’s biggest artistes of the 21st century.

Beyond being a hitmaker, Olamide is a successful label boss, as he has through his YBNL imprint churned out notable music stars including Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, Fireboy, and Asake.

As the head honcho of YBNL, he continues to set the standard for others to follow. It’s therefore no gain saying that he has kick-started 2025 with a bang.
