Alex O returns with new single, Munachi

Alex O

Renowned music powerhouse and Nigerian king of pop, Alex Oguguo Okoroigwe popularly known as Alex O is back with a new single entitled Munachi, a song he said was inspired by the hardship a lot of people in the world passed and are still passing through even after the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

According to the Celebrate hit maker, the song is meant to inspire and encourage people not to give up on their dreams no matter the challenges they encounter, adding that it marks the beginning of the releases of the new songs he has written, composed, and accumulated over the years, since his last album release.

The Mbano, Imo State native started and pursued a career in music after his high school education in the 80s, with the all the training and support he needed in singing and music production given to him by one of Nigeria’s early music legends, the late Steve Rhodes.

In 1988, his first album, Getting’ Loose, was released under the record label Polygram Records (now Premiere Music). He went on to release five albums with hit song after hit song, including Celebrate, Nwadamma, Do It, Banana, Say No, Lagos Weekend Party and many others.

With his band, Kaution, he toured several cities in country, becoming one of the few musicians who dominated the music industry in Nigeria and West Africa for many years with silver and gold discs in the kitty.

Having traversed the Nigerian music scene winning several awards, nationally and locally, the thought to chart a new course in life led to travel out of Nigeria to Europe and South-East Asia (Singapore) where he engaged in many live music performances, shows and concerts, and soundtrack production projects, whilst studying film, video and animation production.

Currently back in Nigeria, Alex O engages in music and film production and post-production projects through his audio/visual production company. With Munachi, the pop legend urges his fans to brace up for an interesting journey ahead with him in anticipation of a full album later in the year.
