Davido, Odumodublvck, Chike unite in electrifying new music video, Funds
With his fourth full-length project in six years on the way, Afrobeats superstar, David Adedeji Adeleke Jnr, also known as Davido, has officially set the ball rolling for his highly anticipated album, titled, 5ive.
The project is the Fia crooner’s fifth studio album, and features songs like Funds, a new single featuring rap artiste Odumodublvck and singer Chike. Produced by close Odumodublvck collaborator, Ucee, the new single partially samples South African music icon, Brenda Fassie’s classic banger, Vulindela.
A bubbly song, Funds features colourful highlife guitar melodies and the rolling log drums that defined the soundscape of last year’s Timeless. It is a blend of English, Pidgin, showcasing Davido’s usual confidence as he boasts about his funds and his ability to provide the best for the woman who has captured his heart. Did I hear you say Chioma!
Musically, Funds is a fusion of Afrobeats, hip-hop, and R&B, with each artiste bringing their A-game to the table. Davido’s signature vocals and energetic flow, Odumodublvck’s raw, unbridled energy, and Chike’s soulful, melodic delivery all blend seamlessly together to create a truly unforgettable listening experience.
The collaboration with OdumoduBlvck and Chike also brings a unique highlife feel to the track, making it one of the hottest songs to look out for this festive season and next year.
Funds follow the DMW chief’s late October’s Awuke with YG Marley. Both singles will no doubt get some spin throughout this year’s Detty December events, and they set up an early-year album release that could make 2025 another banner Year for the Assurance hitmaker.
The visually stunning masterpiece showcases the three artistes’ unique styles and chemistry. Its vibrant colours, sleek choreography, and captivating storyline all come together to create a truly cinematic viewing experience.
With its infectious beat, memorable lyrics, and captivating music video, Funds is poised to become one of the biggest hits of the year. Its release marks a major milestone in the careers of the collaborating three talented artistes, and is set to cement their status as leaders in the Nigerian music industry.
Weeks leading up to the release, Davido and Odumodu shared several posts with the Belgian flag, a gimmick that’s better understood now. The highly anticipated video, which dropped last week, has already generated immense buzz on social media, with fans and music lovers alike applauding the trio’s electrifying performance.
