Emelonye dedicates new song, Foolish, to heartbroken Nigerian ladies

Afrosoul sensation, Uchechi Emelonye, has lent her voice of support to heartbroken women, especially in Nigeria by calling out men who are fond of breaking their promises and taking for granted the emotions of decent ladies in their lives.

Speaking with The Guardian, Uchechi said her new song, Foolish,is dedicated to Nigerian ladies in this category, urging them to move on with their lives.

“It’s a special dedication to very decent ladies out there who are being ‘served breakfast’ by their men. In reality it is not a sign of weakness to fall in love. They should realise that the guys taking advantage of decent ladies and toying with their emotions are Foolish. They should keep their heads up and learn to let go and say goodbye. They will definitely meet the right guy who truly deserves them,” she said.

Foolish is one of the wave-making tracks out of the newly released Mixed Emotions album by Uchechi under the Emelux Records’ imprint. Other tracks contained in the album are: My Time, First Time, Over You, Dance and Margins.

Fondly called Afrosoul Princess, Uchechi, a United Kingdom-trained lawyer, had earlier released three singles – Little Black Bird, Sunrise to Sundown and Underwater, which won the BBC Music Introducing ‘Record of the Year 2022’ in Lancashire, England.
