Excitement as Sneakerfest comes to Lagos

Nigeria’s commercial city and Africa’s entertainment hub, Lagos will be beehive this yuletide season, as it is set to host the first-ever sneakers festival tagged Sneakerfest

The festival, according to its promoters, Ikemesit Nkereuwem-Tim, who is better known as BadBlood, and Babajide Agboola, is geared towards bringing together and celebrating Sneakers’ enthusiasts.

“The aim of the Sneakerfest is to promote the Sneaker Culture in Nigeria through the guaranteed exhibition of adequate fun and entertainment, including chances to win a minimum of 20 sneakers, set aside for youths who showcase their talents and win the various contests to be featured.

Quoting, Nkereuwem-Tim stated that Nigeria’s revenue in the Sneakers segment amounts to US$361 million in 2020. “This proves sneakers are not just accessories to Nigerian youths but an important fashion asset and a sense of belonging, which birthed a reason for a culture to celebrate these enthusiasts,” he added.

The festival, which will hold on December 19 at the Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos, will amongst its goals celebrate youths’ achievements in streetwear fashion, music, dance, sports, arts, and in a festival of games peculiar to the sneakers’ culture, such as basketball.
