London Life, Lagos Living, Bobo Omotayo’s bestselling collection is coming live on stage through an ensemble cast and scheduled for a three day run at the Black Diamond Hotel in Victoria Island, from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th August 2026.

The musical play ensemble will feature Kate Henshaw, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, Gideon Okeke, Olarotimi Fakunle, Chioma Chigul Omeruah, Sola Roberts and a host of others.

First published in 2011, Omotayo’s collection became a defining text for a generation caught between two cities; witty, sharp-eyed and unafraid to name what everyone else only whispered about love, class, ambition and identity.

This stage adaptation carries that voice into a live, immersive format: an ensemble cast performing interwoven monologues alongside movement and original music, staged in the round at one of Victoria Island’s most distinctive event spaces, The Black Diamond Hotel.

Artistic Director; Kenneth Uphopho, said: “Adapting London Life, Lagos Living for the stage was simple.

Bobo Omotayo’s book already made people laugh because it is true. So we took his British residency plus NEPA, traffic, jollof and we put it on a stage and added a band. This Musical theatre ensemble adaptation is about navigating two worlds: one where you queue, and one where you ‘manage’. About greetings that last 10 minutes, and ‘how far’ that means everything. We use humour as our translator because sometimes the only way to explain ‘why is everyone shouting and smiling at the same time’ is to sing about it. So, if you’ve ever packed British politeness and tried to use it in Lagos traffic , welcome. You’re not alone.”

The venue provides an intimate, upscale setting built for the production’s immersive staging, placing the audience inside the world of the stories rather than at a distance from them.

Temple Productions and Pawstudios Africa; two of the best production companies in entertainment in Nigeria, have combined to bring this story to the stage for the 2026 edition.

The show opens Friday, August 28 and runs till Sunday, August 30. The stage adaptation has previously been adapted for the stage by Uphopho to critical acclaim.
