Prominent music record company, Mavin Record, has announced the second instalment of its novel mentorship programme, The Mavin Future Five. After sifting five deserving mavericks out of a thousand applicants last year, the talent-grooming programme has called for entries for its 2023 edition.

In last year’s edition, the five selected candidates underwent six months of experiential internship during which they worked on campaign with the team at Mavin Records, met with industry leaders across varying facets of the entertainment industries, music executives, and professionals who impacted their work culture, personal philosophy, and vision.

“This has helped me assess myself in a new light, and improve. I now challenge myself even more, I’m more outgoing, and even more prone to blurting out my ‘crazy’ ideas,” Miracle Udoh, an alumnus of the programme told Weekend Beats. She also alludes to being able to collaborate with her fellow alumnus Ifeoma Iheagwara with whom they are building a resilient music collective together.

“One significant thing I’ve taken and hold dear to my heart though, is that having the ideas is wonderful, but at the end of it all, stands a word more important than perhaps the idea itself- Execution,” she adds.

The Mavin Future Five is a quintet of some of the industry’s most impressionable minds. With the ambition of populating the professional end of the music business with the brightest minds and most competent hands, Mavin Records commits itself to mentoring young music industry enthusiasts and students aged 18-25 years. The programme would accept people in areas like Artists Relations, Digital, New Business, Creative Marketing, and Promotions.

Speaking to Weekend Beats, the Label Founder, Don Jazzy, said he is excited about kicking off the program again.

“It is great to see the impact of the first Mavin Future Five. As a label in its 11th year, this is one of the ways we can give back to the industry, and sustain its growth. It is also a legacy for Mavin to have contributed more to the scene than just great musical talents,” he said.

The label’s Chief Operating Officer, Tega Oghenejobo, also corroborated that, saying he is committed to continue integrating new hands to the business side of Music.

“I had weekly sessions with the last set. It is incredible to hear their brilliant ideas and guide them towards how best to execute them. We can build the future by making sure we involve the younger ones now. That is why this programme is especially important. We are giving these ones a head start and securing the future from now. Looking forward to seeing more brands and organisations involved’’
