Singer, songwriter and pianist, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, known professionally as Mayorkun, has released his much-awaited extended play (EP), titled, Love… For Free, an emotional project that delves into themes of love, heartbreak and self-discovery.
The EP comes on the heels of the success of Mayorkun’s recent hit single, LowKey, which provided a glimpse into the melodies and heartfelt lyrics that define this latest offering. Consisting of five tracks, the new project showcases Mayorkun’s vulnerability and confidence as he navigates the complexities of fractured love.
With the EP, the Eleko crooner invites audiences on a voyage through the highs and lows of his love life. Each track within Love… For Free tells a clear narrative, summarising the essence of heartache and the subsequent journey toward recovery and self-renewal.
Musing on the EP, Mayorkun said, “Love… For Free is my introspective journey through heartbreak and healing. Each track represents a different facet of my emotions, and I hope that everyone who listens to it is inspired to navigate and emerge from their own situations. Above all, I hope they glean valuable lessons from these experiences and remain open to the prospect of love once more.”
With the EP touching on universal themes of love, pain, and resilience, it is hope that it will offer a deep, personal and relatable experience for listeners.
The singer, who also known as ‘The Mayor of Lagos’ came to limelight in 2016 after releasing a cover of Davido’s The Money single and was discovered by the self-acclaimed Omo Baba Olowo (O.B.O) on Twitter, who later signed to his record label, Davido Music World (DMW) from 2016 to 2021.
His debut single, Eleko, was released under the label imprint. He followed with his debut studio album, The Mayor of Lagos, in November 2018. After his exit from DMW in 2021, he released Let Me Know and his second studio album, Back In Office, in October 2021, under Sony Music West Africa division.
