The internet has been buzzing about Oga Duke, a Nigerian pet influencer and content creator, who creates contents with his dog, Duke.

Oga Duke in the last four months has grown to be the most famous and followed pet influencer in Nigeria with over 100,000 followers on Instagram. From the very first content, Nigerians could not deny the special bond with Oga Duke and Duke. Their contents are funny, loving and definitely so cute to watch. It’s unlike anything we’ve seen in Nigeria’s entertainment world. With thousands of influencers and content creators in Nigeria, Oga Duke has left its unique mark. Every dog lover seems to be gushing over their contents and how stylish Duke is.

Oreoluwa Osoba popularly known as Oga Duke is from Ogun State, Nigeria. He is a First Class graduate of Computer Science, who has lived most of his life in Lagos, Nigeria. He’s the last child of his family.

“Growing up, I never really wanted to be noticed. I was the odd kid in class and I knew how to entertain myself in my head. I never thought I would be famous,” he said.
Oga Duke had a quiet childhood playing video games and watching movies.  He loves to cook and he is really close to his immediate elder sister, Busayo.  “Growing up, she was my second mother and she taught me how to treat a lady right and how to be myself,” he said.

Oga Duke, whose contents are unique and unlike anything we have seen in Nigeria, is a  breath of fresh air in the entertainment industry and there is no denying that we love it.

“The name “Oga Duke” comes from my dog’s name, which is Duke and because I am his boss, I am the Oga, hence Oga Duke,” Osoba said.

Oga Duke opened up about his unique duo with his dog “I never thought I would be a pet influencer or a content creator, but my dog and I have a unique bond and my friends would always record us when they visit and laugh so much”.

Duke is a Miniature Schnauzer, Oga Duke adopted him when he was three months old and the minute their first video went online, everyone was gushing about Duke’s personality and their bond.

“ A lot of people don’t know that Duke has taught me a lot, I learnt to be more patient when I got him as I had to potty train him and teach him commands myself without a dog trainer. I also learnt to be more caring  and to be more playful. I used to be really uptight but Duke is a very active, friendly and fun loving dog; he brought me out of my shell. Duke likes to meet everyone so most time I end up making friends because of him “ – Oga duke

Oga Duke puts in a lot of effort in taking care of Duke as we can see from Duke’s style and fashion on his instagram page. “Duke almost has more clothes than I do, I love to dress him up but beyond the camera taking care of a dog is no joke. It’s like having a baby forever, it’s a lot of work but it’s rewarding. Dogs show love that some humans are yet to understand, they are so forgiving and live a stress free life. I wake up everyday at 6am to take Duke on a walk, feed him and groom him. It is a serious commitment. It’s one thing to adopt a dog and it’s another thing to take good care of them. My fellow dog parents, please let’s always take good care of our dog, we are all they get. Before getting Duke, I did a lot of research on his breed to understand him and what I was getting into; it’s important to understand your dog’s breed and to also spend time with your dog,” he said.

“If you have watched any of Oga Duke’s videos, you can tell that Duke is well trained and well -behaved, it took a lot of time and patience to train him. ..’’

One thing I have learnt is that dogs always want to please their parents but they (the dogs) just don’t understand them (their parents). Once you and your dog understand each other it’s very easy from there, you just have to pay close attention to your dog and see how they react to things. That helps you understand their gestures as they can’t speak to you but they can give you signals.”

Oga Duke is a name in every Nigerian dog lover’s mouth; how does it feel? – “Honestly, I am amazed every time I go out and people say Oga Duke or people ask for a picture or ask about Duke. I am so thankful for the love.”

One of the coolest things we learnt is that Oga Duke creates most of his contents from his phone and does all the editing on his phone. “Honestly, I am a phone guy. I love to create and edit on my phone; I create all my contents so far from my phone as it’s just so easy for me “ – Oga Duke

From his phone to the world to being a YouTube partner to over a hundred thousand followers on instagram within four months, Oga Duke is taking the world by storm.

Oga Duke is set to achieve world class fame “To be honest I know what I am doing is totally different and I know Nigeria is new to this; but that’s what makes it interesting to me.  At first when I started posting videos some people were like, what is this? But then they started loving it, the love I have gotten so far amazes me. People ask me all the time how I come up with my contents  and I tell them I don’t know; I just have the ideas and I do it. I’m not the best when it comes to writing things down so once I have an idea I shoot it immediately”

Oga Duke is definitely the biggest name in the petfluencing sector in Nigeria and he hopes to achieve more by taking his fame beyond Nigeria. We are definitely rooting for the young star and can’t wait to see more of him.
