My dream was to be artiste manager, but music called me — Odumodublvck

Rapper Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has shared an interesting insight into his career journey, admitting that he never intended to become a musician.

The 31-year-old made the revelation during a recent interview where he reflected on how fate led him to the music scene, having accompanied a friend to the studio. While sharing about his original aspirations, the Declan Rice hitmaker revealed that his dream was to be an artiste manager, but destiny had different plans for him.

He said, “I wanted to go and manage somebody, and the person asked me to write music. I gave it a chance, and that’s how it started. Music called me.”

“He came to me and said he was downstairs, that he had dropped out and wanted to record. He asked me to manage him. We gave our last N20,000 for production. When we got to the studio, I ended up writing the song,” Odumodublvck recounted.

The Eziokwu crooner’s entry into music was serendipitous; it occurred when he accompanied a friend to a recording studio.

“My friend reached out and said he was downstairs, that he had dropped out and wanted to record. He asked me to manage him. We gave our last N20,000 for production. When we got to the studio, I ended up writing the song,” he reminisced.

Notwithstanding the fact that music wasn’t his initial career choice, Odumodublvck has achieved tremendous success, collecting numerous awards and acknowledgments.

His 2023 hit, Declan Rice, even earned recognition as Spotify’s second biggest global rap song of the year.

Released in March 2023, the track soared to commercial success, clinching the No. 1 spot on Apple Music Nigeria’s Top 100 and landing in the Top 5 on Spotify Nigeria. In April of the same year, Odumodublvck topped it off by winning the highly competitive Next Rated Artiste category at the 2025 Headies Awards.
